The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, returned to the country after spending 12 days in the United Kingdom on Thursday.
The former Lagos State governor left the country for the European nation on September 24, just four days to the commencement of the 2023 presidential campaign.
Tinubu’s absence from Nigeria has fuelled insinuations about his ill health with many claiming the APC candidate was receiving treatment in a London hospital.
He later dismissed rumours of his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race in a video posted on Twitter last week.
This followed his absence in Abuja where all the presidential candidates signed the peace accord initiated by the National Peace Committee headed by a former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd), on September 29.
Tinubu, who was seen pedaling a bicycle in the video, wrote: “Many have said I have died; others claim I have withdrawn from the presidential campaign.
The former governor is expected to meet with the APC national leadership and other stakeholders on Friday in Abuja.
The spokesman of the APC presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the development on Twitter.
He also posted a video of Tinubu stepping out of a jet.
He wrote: “The Eagle has landed! He teased them; he played mind games with them; their thoughts went wild, but @officialABAT is the master of the game. Just when they thought they had something on which to feast, he’s rather the one now feasting on their naivety. Welcome back, the City Boy!”
